My work here is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC 3.0 NZ LicensePrior to May 2012, posts were back-dated to the time of their original pen-and-paper Diary entries and podcasts were given arbitrary dates so as to fit in a nice 'reading order' on the front page. It really was terribly confusing, eventually. Sincere apologies for the philosophy-headaches which resulted.
I'm still committed to back-filling the gap between the actual Diary and the blog, I've just stopped mucking with the dates and will occasionally intersperse much-more-recent 'topical' stuff when my journalistic impulses overtake my historian slowness.
My views are entirely my own, though anyone is more than welcome to agree with me.

Crafty Beggars
It is, apparently, Brandwank Monsoon Season. At least I won’t suffer for material.1 As was spotted by the eagle eye of Dominic (from Hashigo Zake) some months ago in the Trademark Registry, “Crafty Beggars” is a new brand / imprint / … Continue reading

Croucher ‘Double D’ and Raindogs ‘Apothecary’
It is, for some reason, traditional that here in Wellington trans-Tasman flights arrive Eastward around midnight and depart Westward just before sunrise. I suppose it makes its own kind of sense, but it does mandate some bleary-eyed mornings and lead … Continue reading

Liberty / Galbraith’s ‘Yakima Monster’
That right there is a real contender to win the Outstanding Achievement of Awesomeness in Tap Badge Design award.1 It’s fair to say the craft beer scene in our little nation punches well above its weight, but it’s worth also … Continue reading

Left Coast ‘The Wedge’
It appears I might have “Black IPA” on the brain. Or hoppy porter, at least — the question of whether the one is the other is an enjoyable piece of modern beer taxonomy for me to ponder as I have … Continue reading

The Fourth of July (Last Year)
One of the genuinely-many delightful things about celebrating “occasion beers” keyed to non-local occasions is that the magic of timezones can grant you quite a bit more time — in case you’d like to keep the party going, or just if … Continue reading

Yeastie Boys ‘Gunnamatta’
It’s rather fitting that, now I’ve finally finished uploading my GABS Weekend notes, I actually have a proper Diary entry for the beer that started my trip. At the preposterously unfortunate time of four-thirty in the morning — around-about when I’d … Continue reading
Post-GABS Afternoon Taphouse Mooch
When you’re waiting for your plane home to Wellington, when you’ve been staying with friends in the near-Southern suburbs of Melbourne, when you’re in a post-Spectapular state of beery bliss mixed pleasantly with mild lethargy — and when, perhaps, you’re … Continue reading

GABS Glass #4: Moo Brew ‘Belgo’
Reading the Big Book while waiting for my Food Coma to subside and my brain to ramp back up to some semblance of walking-and-talking ability, I noticed that I’d missed out a sessionable beer from what I thought was an exhaustive … Continue reading

GABS Paddle #2: Random Favourites
The final Sunday-afternoon session of GABS was considerably lower-key than the ones which came before. There were fewer attendees (a shade less than the Friday afternoon session, perhaps would-be visitors were off being dutiful offspring for Mother’s Day), and the … Continue reading
