We try a couple of new-ish releases, and one bottle that&#8217;d been sitting around waiting for the right occasion. And, unusually, one of our Beers of the Week turns out to be something of a dud, or at least a disappointment. The crowds shambling to the pub to greet those 12 o&#8217;clock openings were awfully munter-ish.<\/li>\n<li>(3.40) Here, let me find it for you: <a title=\"harmontown.com\" href=\"http:\/\/harmontown.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harmontown<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>(4.50) While we await the latest Census results, the Wikipedia is \u2014 as always \u2014 <a title=\"'Religion in New Zealand', on Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Religion_in_New_Zealand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a fine place to start<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>(5.10)\u00a0<strong>Beer of the Week #1: Epic &#8216;Mosaic&#8217;<\/strong>.<sup>1<\/sup> Which is\u00a0<em>heaps<\/em> easier for my lisp to navigate, inherently worthy as an individual beer, and genuinely hilarious as a collection of little references and bits of gentle self-satire.<\/li>\n<li>(9.00) My bad, the\u00a0<strong>IPA<\/strong> <strong>Glass<\/strong> was a project of Dogfish Head and\u00a0<em>Sierra Nevada<\/em>, which makes vastly more sense. Adding to the suspicion that this might all just be a load of marketing wank, it seems <a href=\"http:\/\/beerpulse.com\/2013\/02\/new-ipa-glass-looks-virtually-the-same-as-existing-riedel-o-redwhite-glass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the design isn&#8217;t <em>that<\/em> new \u2014 nor beer-specific<\/a>\u00a0(except for the addition of nucleation sites).<\/li>\n<li>(11.45)\u00a0<strong>&#8216;Get More From Your Beer&#8217;<\/strong> was great fun at Beervana and at the GKBF. Neil Miller, <a href=\"http:\/\/themalthouse.co.nz\/blog\/344-malthouse-a-little-slice-of-belgium-on-courtenay-place\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the Malthouse blog, went a little into the background<\/a>, <del>though he&#8217;s oddly coy about not knowing the &#8220;real story&#8221;; last I heard, he&#8217;s still on the brewery payroll<\/del>. (Edited 30 July 2016 to strike that last part. Apparently Neil, at this point, hadn&#8217;t done any work for the brewery for a few years. Perhaps, if more people were better-practiced at telling us who they work for and when, we wouldn&#8217;t have to speculate. For what it&#8217;s worth, I belatedly apologise.)<\/li>\n<li>(22.25) My bad, again, Tuataras\u00a0<em>are<\/em> reptiles \u2014 what they&#8217;re\u00a0<em>aren&#8217;t<\/em>, is lizards.<\/li>\n<li>(24.10) If\u00a0<em>anyone<\/em> needs a primer on Moa&#8217;s many sins, start with <a title=\"'The Moa IPO'\" href=\"http:\/\/philcook.net\/beerdiary\/2012\/10\/13\/the-moa-ipo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their recent IPO<\/a>. West Coast Brewery still exists, thanks to some somewhat unsavory company-law juggling. All completely legal and par for the course \u2014 which is exactly why it pisses me off; this stuff shouldn&#8217;t happen, and it shouldn&#8217;t so-readily screw the very people who weren&#8217;t at fault. Grumble. Belatedly, I also just spotted that The Artist was <a title=\"#364 'The Artist', on Beer for a Year\" href=\"http:\/\/beerforayear.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/07\/364-west-coast-the-artist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alice Galletly&#8217;s penultimate beer, her #364<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>(42.40) <a title=\"'Hop to the Top'\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brewsnews.com.au\/2013\/03\/hop-to-the-top\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luke Robertson&#8217;s piece was at BrewsNews.com.au<\/a>, and was mostly about insanely-multiply-hopped brews \u2014 including Dave&#8217;s farewell brew, which will be at MarchFest in Nelson this weekend.<\/li>\n<li>(42.50) He&#8217;s updated <a title=\"@hotwaterbrewing\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hotwaterbrewing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his Twitter handle<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotwaterbrewing.co.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registered a domain<\/a>, at least.<\/li>\n<li>(45.30) Apparently, I deleted my still-full SD card of photos from my Christchurch trip like a complete Muppet.
