In not-at-all breaking news<\/span>, it is apparently\u00a0February<\/em>. When last I wrote, it was as far from New Year’s Eve as it is\u00a0now<\/em>; life moves pretty fast<\/a>. I do feel somewhat guilty for the evident fact that it’s things that make me\u00a0grumpy<\/em> which most-easily rouse me from my happily-distracted existence and make me actually publish something.1<\/sup>\u00a0I’m in a damn-near-perpetual state of\u00a0meaning to write something<\/em>, but as the only-occasionally-wise Jayne Cobb once said \u2014 in an episode of\u00a0Firefly<\/em><\/a> which is just over ten years old but now seems oddly prescient of the current omnishambles in the European meat industry<\/a> \u2014 if wishes were horses, we’d all be eating steak.<\/p>\n

Even more unfortunately \u2014 given the considerable efforts put in by my co-host and producer extraordinaire, George \u2014 the podcast has been even more neglected than it\u00a0looks<\/em>. We’d recorded episodes and dispatches as far back as the middle of last year which still haven’t been ‘aired’.2<\/sup> Life-moving-fast would always get in the way of me posting them when I wanted to and should’ve done, which would then kick in truly maladaptive and dim-witted procrastinatory circuitry in my brain that somehow fools itself into thinking that maybe<\/em> the answer to annoying delay is\u00a0more delay<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Speaking (as I slightly<\/em> was) of the calendar rolling around, the arrival of 2013 prompted us to record a Year In Review episode. Getting back in the saddle (to inadvertently return to the horsemeat topic) was great fun, but I’d be intolerably remiss if I didn’t\u00a0finally<\/em> also upload the Lost Episodes. So I’ll do that in a couple of compendium posts before getting on with the show proper \u2014 because I am as much of a pedantic completionist as I am a scatterbrained procrastinator.<\/p>\n
